Whitaker’s has to be at it’s all time low. Went there today shelves were empty and Gun racks had very few firearms.
In all the years I’ve been going there it appears they are waiting on a bullet to put them out of their misery.

Owensboro, western third of the state.

They used to be crazy well stocked. Now, Buds, Ky. Gun Co., Centerfire Systems all seem to have good inventory & building it up. For a place like Whitakers to be barren does seem strange, hope all is OK.

Once a hell of a gun shop. My first trip there I had to stop about 4 feet in the door to catch my breath, never saw so many rifles in one place.

Hey shortactionsmoker, what's up? Hope all is well!

Last couple months their emails have been frequently saying that the advertised specials were Internet only (not valid at the store), so I wonder if they've shifted their sales strategy. Keeping long shelves filled with guns is expensive (time value of money), particularly when inflation is high.

Shortactionsmoker was a GoodGuy.... Haven't heard anything. Emails seem to pimp low-end chit lately. Maybe the coons got him?

Still alive and kicking. Maintaining inventory has been a struggle. The shelves will fill back up this fall. The online ads don’t always mean we don’t have it in the store. We just don’t have the quantity in the store that we move online. Upper end goods have been a struggle to maintain and shipping has been dismal. 9-12 days on most restock. We probably have 4-500 guns in transit all the time. What most don’t realize is the capacity of the new store is far greater than the old store. In times past we’d get 10 of an item on allocation. That means a gun on the shelf would be there until we sold the last from overstock. Now we get one or two of the items on allocation and they’re gone the same day.

Covid was tough on us, but we’ll be around for a long time.

Most all the big online sales places are like that. A warehouse the size of Kansas would be needed to house all the inventory most of the bigger stores offer.

But aside from that part of business, Whitakers once had one hell of an on the floor in the store inventory & operated that way many years.

Apparently Whitaker’s has went out of business, and left customers with paid for orders without their firearms they’ve ordered and without a refund.

Bought from them a couple times. Darik has always been helpful. Probably will get my business again.
