3 years ago, Idaho passed the 1st state law barring men from competing in women's sports in public high schools and colleges in Idaho. The 9th Circus court of appeals has blocked it. A federal appeals court on Thursday refused to allow Idaho to enforce a first-in-the-nation ban on transgender women and girls from participating in female sports leagues, saying the measure likely was unconstitutional.
A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel delivered a victory to LGBTQ rights advocates by upholding an injunction blocking Idaho’s Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, the first of many such laws to be enacted by Republican-led states.
“This is an important victory for common sense, equality, and the rights of transgender youth under the law,” said Chase Strangio, a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union, which pursued the court challenge.
The Idaho measure, which Republican Gov. Brad Little signed into law in March 2020, bars transgender women and girls of all ages from participating in female sports teams at public schools in the state, from primary school through college.
Twenty-two other states have adopted similar laws governing sports, most recently in North Carolina, according to the conservative Christian legal group Alliance Defending Freedom, which had argued in favor of reviving Idaho’s law.
“When our laws ignore biological reality and allow males to compete in women’s sports, women are harmed and denied athletic opportunities,” ADF attorney Christiana Kiefer said in a statement.

The 9th…. After x amount of reversals there should be abandonment of of the bench and new judges put forth. They only do this crap because they are bulletproof.

The 9th is a huge circuit. Idaho and some other more conservative states have been trying for years to get out of it but congress won't approve another circuit. It's dominated by the left: CA, OR, and WA.

Osky We have a democratic republic here, not a democracy. We choose our representatives and they make these decisions. That's the way our federal and most state constitutions are written. Idaho's legislature passed this bill by a large margin. A public vote would have done the same. At least the people here have the brains to see that men can't be women.

This whole subject of there being more than two sexes is totally ridiculous and denies comprehension. If trannies want to compete let them form a transsexual sports program and fund it with ticket sales. That should be an overwhelming financial success. Otherwise compete in your genetic gender.

There's nothing that says that the SCOTUS would accept the case if it goes up from the 9th. However, it's no longer just Idaho. There are many states that have passed very similar laws and it's going to come to a head sooner or later. Women's teams from other states come to Idaho to compete. This law prohibits them from bringing a tranny with them. Or, what happens when an Idaho team goes to Portland or Seattle to compete? Our women would be playing against a bunch of men, hardly a fair contest. As soon this stuff crosses state lines, it becomes a federal issue. I'm surprised that some of these perverts haven't been visited by the KKK or a group of player's fathers or brothers and 'encouraged' to quit.

Thank God there were saner less politically motivated judges on the Supreme Court of the United States, and they very often over-rode the leftist activist judges on the ninth circus court of repeals.

For years think it started under Reagan when it came to nominating a judge to the 9th circuit. U.S senators from California would submit names they saw as a best fit. Well President Trump broke this long ch itty tradition and selected conservative judges to the 9th and this changed the makeup of the court. But still plenty of liberal judges on thd 9th circuit. If he wasn’t cheated out the last election the 9th circuit be more conservative.

The law came about because of protests and lawsuits by women trying to protect their rights. It was passed and signed by a very red Idaho government, largely elected by women voters.
