Howdy folks,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience, good or bad, with the Renner's Ruger no. 1 Tang Sight made by John McLaughlin?
I'm looking to sleek up my #3 as the current NECG peep that fits on the Ruger base works fine, it just doesn't really help the lines of the rifle at all.
Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Cory

Pretty crazy looking. I wouldn't want it on a hunting rifle, to easy to catch on clothing.

Does the safety still function?
Terry Wieland has a custom No. 1 target rifle with a tang sight, and no safety needed since it’s never carried loaded.
What fresh Hell is this?

Looks sorta like maybe it’s adjustable for elevation only, which would present a problem, considering the fixed nature of the No.1 front sight mounting. And, the loose tolerances in No.1 safety fit could well induce wandering POI, though the safety spring tension may be enough if the shooter’s mitts can stay away from the sight during the shot. But, judging from that Kepplinger set trigger, at least this No.1’s owner got class.

Terry Wieland has a custom No. 1 target rifle with a tang sight, and no safety needed since it’s never carried loaded. I often thought about a Marble’s windage adjustable tang sight on a thick base with a portion of the bottom of that base milled away to accommodate an abbreviated No.1 safety modified to incorporate a flat tab protruding to the right where it could be manipulated by the thumb. Never got around to pursuing that idea, and now all my Ruger No.1s are gone.

My Browning .44 mag has a Marbles tang and barrel leaf. Fortuitously, the leaf can be sighted for a light Trail Boss load while the tang sight is for full-power hunting loads.

What front sight? The Renner's pictures are just stock pictures off the web. You can see the bottom of the scope in this picture.
