You own the rifle until I have completed the FFL transfer plain and simple. I just concluded a purchase where the rifle was "lost" by USPS for four months. Is that on the seller (owner of the firearm) or buyer to be resolved? In my case the seller refunded the money and went after USPS for reimbursement. He was still out the money (USPS not helping) and the rifle. The rifle arrived at my FFL two days ago. I sent the seller another check and the deal is now closed.
Conduct is the best proof of character.
