I am coming p short on finding 225 grain bullets in .358 diameter for my 35 Whelen. Anyone know if there or why there is a shortage? Thanks

No surprise there. I have been looking for 225 grain bullets, also for a Whelen, for a couple of years now. Until they become available, I have switched to Speer 250 grain.

If you really must shoot 225 grains your best bet is probably one of the boutique manufacturers like Hawk or North Fork. Get ready for old school performance with the Hawks and super premium prices for the North Forks. Otherwise, they do pop up from time to time on GunBroker.

Your difficulties illustrate why I got rid of my 35W.

I’m down to about 75 or so. I’ve been looking for several years. I’ve got a good friend who has been trying to buy half of my stash for his Whelen….to no avail…. I’ve been searing for partitions/accubonds as well.

I am well stocked with 225 gr AB's for my Whelen (250 gr Speer and 250 gr Partitions too) but folks seem to be pleased with this company. https://hammerbullets.com/product-tag/358/

RE Hammers - unless one has a custom with a sub-1:16 twist, you're relegated to the 203gr and lighter for the Whelen - or ladder up to the 254gr.

I've used the 220 Hammer Hunter it is superbly accurate and leaves huge wound channels. Can also get a bit more velocity with the Hammer bullets of the same weight because they have minimal bearing surface
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first
