Never had one. Haven't even seen one in decades. But this topic reminded me of the one I saw a couple times as a kid circa 1960. An old local guy had one right in his living room. He had shot the bear himself many years prior, well before WW2 I'm guessing, as he was quite old in 1960. Decades later I got to know a guy who grew up on a farm down the road from the old guys place. He told me that the old guy was quite a hunter in his younger days and had a pretty decent collection of hunting rifles & shotguns.

I can't quite read it with my bad eyes. I need to get a closer look. But I can see good enough to know I want one.

Wabi, this is a prime example of how the 'fire can take an innocent post and make it interesting.

This one was made for a wall hanging. It squared out at a couple inches over six feet. I killed him in northeast Kern County, Calif. Shot him with my handy, dandy, trusty old .280 Remington in my Remington 725.

Hang one on the wall and it doesn't get all beaten up by foot traffic.

Yes a couple. Blacks. They are no where near the soft fur other animals have, sheared beaver, otter, mink, fox etc. can’t imagine why anyone would want to lay on a bear hide.

Had my first bear done as a rug, wall hanger. Always feel guilty when I bury a hide, but haven't found any takers.

Is that where a big old hairy man lies on top of you, not for anything sexual, just outta respect for how you handle your rig? 'Cause, no, never had one of those.
