Value unfired, with the case. I believe 10-inch barrel, ported.

MSRP: $1569.00

Lot of little people tried to whack me with a .50, aka 12.7mm. They all failed and many died when I replied with a 7.62x51.

.44 mag is as far as I'll go with a handgun.

I've been around the 460s and 500s a little bit most of what I see I believe is called an 8 5/8 barrel? but I'm not sure that includes the muzzle brake on the end so that might be getting close to 10 inch then..

imo around 1200 bucks for a good clean solid used one... so unfired might be a bit more.. I always like to look at Bud's guns cuz they're usually as cheap as anybody to know the cheap end of brand new real world..

I feel the same, I don't think I will ever use this 500.

My buddy has that exact gun and I just checked with him to see what he gave for it. He said he bought it privately two years ago NIB for $1350. They are an impressive weapon and I wish I could say I had a peasant experience when I shot it, but that's just not the case.

DD is right.

When you need a handgun, you need a handgun. When you need a rifle, pack a rifle.

I guess some people like recoil and extreme muzzle blast. Just not for me. wink

I know I paid well under $1000 for mine, brand new, but that was when they first came out and i did occasional tricky machine work for the dealer so he got me occasional new guns for a really good price. My guess is, given the MSRP, if it is brand new, unfired, in the box with all the paperwork etc, $1200 would be a really good deal. I would enjoy mine a lot more if I had the time and ambition to develop a good 350 - 400 grain cast bullet load running around 1000 fps. Maybe I've become a sissy in my old age, but I find the best way to enjoy that gun is to watch someone else shoot it.

I wouldn't be able to feed a 500 S&W. My .454 Casul brass is expensive. I'm sure the 500's are even more so. Not to mention .50 cal bullets.

I bought several hand guns in a package deal so it is hard for me to say what I paid for it. The most I could get for it was $1200 I ended getting $1500 in trade in value towards a Springfield M1A National Match.

I like my 5” S&W .460
I enjoy loading the .45lc on the warm side.
Cool gun imo. I’m actually going to be selling it and all my reloading stuff for it.

Agreed.

But I have an unreasonable desire to have a 500 S&W in a lever gun
