These guns were made from 1960 to 1974. Anyone here buy one new back in the day? I think my 1969 gun sold for $480 in 1970, but I'm not clear if that was the wholesale or retail price.

A new Browning Auto 5 Light Twelve cost $238.50 at Sears that year.

My father had four, 30-06, 7mm REM., 338, and 375 HH. He looked at them as part of his retirement account and did fairly well.

He collected a lot of Brownings, mainly Medallion grade but a few Safari and Olympian. I have a few Safairs that he had. They are being handed down to the grandkids in hopes they use them.

Page 87 on the 1969 Shooter's Bible, #60, shows prices between $574.50 and $599.50 depending of the caliber.

That would equate to between $4,785.59 and $4,993.84 in 2023 dollar value.

beautiful rifle! And one of the best quality rifles ever built.

I have had two FN Medallions, and a Safari.

I should have kept them, but for one reason or another I let them go.

I always wanted an Olympian, but they were always beyond my reach.

A guy I know told me he has a basement full of them and waiting for the prices to go up.

Knowing him I do not doubt it one bit.
