I went to the dealer this morn for 15k service. I told them the truck was hunting gears and kinda sluggish and it's “almost got me killed a few times”

When the truck was done, The pedal was immediately responsive and will burn the tires on take off.

I’m thinking since they have moved on to a new gen tacoma, they can tune the settings on the 3rd gen.

Passed by a newish tacoma in fairbanks, the thing smelled BAD, burning transmission smell. I was freaking out, thinking it was my truck, since it says ford on the grill.

Nope, was the tacoma, as when I passed him, the smell went away.

Let us know how it affects MPG Please. I am looking at an OTT tune for my 2016 Tacoma.

So I went to the country today, it was a whole nuther animal in the hills, accelerated great and very stable in gears. This was in regular shift mode with the ECT button off. I usually have to drive this area in sport mode with ect for some sanity.

The truck is getting almost 2mpg more !

This wasn’t an OTT Tune nor with throttle controller, it was something they did at the dealer. Tires barked at every take off I think because I’m used to putting my foot into it.

Just messaged them, not five minutes ago. 2011 4.0 6 speed with a 2-3" lift - Curious to know what the typical results (improvement) are on the 6 speed.

I think its because whatever they did is making better use of gears and not doing some funky switch about that causes me to stomp the gas to get up hills and such. I’m getting between 17.5 in stiff hills at 30mph to 22 mpg on level highway at 75mph.

Might have to bite off on a regular cab short box 4x4 GMC with the turbo 4 if gas gets any higher.

Toyota gas mileage sucks

I am getting 19.5 to 21.5 on dirt and some pavement a lot of up and downs And a lot of stop get out open gates drive threw stop close gate and a lot of stops in between. and a little 4x4. total daily miles 60 same rout every day 6 days a week. MPG of my Tacoma is right about 4.5 MPG better then My old 1992 ford ranger 4x4. so if the flash worked to get rid of the throttle lag and did not hurt MPG that would be good with me.

No the dealer didn’t flash my truck after all, they reset the learning thing and explained to me tacomas are very reactive to octane and bad gas too.

OTT tune fixed everything about the truck and I don’t give a rat’s azz about gas mileage. Dang thing drives normal now.

Its the way to go !
