Didn't draw any of my rifle tags this year. So bow season OTC it is. And only weekend trips. Anyone else heading out for bow season? Do you like opening weekend, middle of the month or end of the season?

I am but I'll be using a muzzleloader. When I've bowhunted I liked the 3-4 days before the muzzleloader season best, sat out during ML season, and then right after ML wrapped up.

This is the first year in the last nine years that I’ll not be in the Idaho Sawtooth in the second week of September with a bow.
We like the second week, as the Labor Day rush is over - the rut is usually about to kick off - not always, especially if it’s hot weather or there’s still good feed up high. If the rut is coming on - it gets good fast.

Yes. September 9th-25th. I usually go whenever I can get vacation time. But the first week is usually too hot for my liking.

The earlier the season the more likely a bull can be called in IMO.
The later the season the more vocal and boisterous the herd bull becomes.
Early season is like said before……too freaking warm to not be worried about meat care.

Sept 5-11 up in a general area for us this year. Longbows and wall tent, looking forward to a few days on the mountain.
Blue moon end of Aug will have elk talking early I think.
Been down into 40's at night here so not too warm at all.

I’m headed to 80/81 Colorado to archery backpack hunt in two weeks. I like to hang out with the muzzy hunters during their season!

Sawtooth zone in Idaho. Hunt some early but really hit it last 10 days. That parts that haven't burned in the last 10-12 years lol.
