My local gun store just got some Reloader 26 in. Been looking for that and Ramshot Magnum for months. Holy Crap, $83.99 a pound. I use it in my 6.5 PRC , so I bought a pound. I,dgladly pay that if I could get a pound of Reloder 22 . I have'nt seen any at my local get it places in 2 years . Get RL23 its better than 22, its been out there and alot cheaper than 83 00

It's called supply and demand.
Bad: He paid a ransom.
Good: He got a pound of RL-26.
He evidently wanted it bad enough to pay the ransom, didn't have to.
Vendor's choice to crank up the price, customer's choice to pay it.
Don't see the heart burn from others about a business transaction between two consenting parties.

Well, we now have three threads going today, bitching about prices (which peeps pay);
1. This 2. $9 Egg McMuffins 3. $187,000 Raptor PU Truck.
This must be some AI experiment gone wrong on CF.

Alliant has had numerous price hikes in the last two years. R17, 19, 22 and 26 are all in the neighborhood of $60/lb from Powder Valley - IF they've got it in stock. And that's before Hazmat fees. I just checked Powder Valley and they list it in stock for $33.99 a pound, though with hazmat and shipping it would be closer to $60. Gunwriter pricing 👍 🤣

That price is ridiculous, damn near $700 for 8 lbs.
Probably a bit cheaper in 8lb cans, but even $600 is steep.
Before things went crazy I bought 2 8lb cans of 4831 for $160 each, 8lbs of varget for $190, and 8 lbs of H380 for $130.
Is what it is and I have enough of everything to last me for 10 years plus.
On the plus side I have been seeing a lot of powders back in stock at least.

I just googled both Re powders. Found 26 at Hunters precision & 22 there & Midwest powders. One of those 2 places had a $31 flat rate ship & took the quantity up to 4# & the ship cost remained at 31.
Ammoseek shows vendors w/CCI standard vel. under 7 cents, One place had case lots for 6.5 cents & free shipping.

Can never have enough. 450 rounds is a lot to you? Interesting. Its plenty for a hunting rifle, ive got enough for my life time and probably some for my grandson for my 17,20 and 22 cals I shoot sage rats at some years I will shoot 3,000 rounds maybe more in a good year. I learned long ago with the first to " shortages" before this B.S. biggest difference is before people said F.U. and prices came way down after 6 months. Whats interesting is blame the Dems for everything but walk in a store and flop down a Benny and think nothing of it for something you really don't need, there's alternatives ya just gotta be willing to look if you shoot enough you know that. Do you realize There's really only 3 powder company's and Hodgen owns most. Vista owns 90 % of the primers, this is price control at its finest Jesus man Google Vista profits in 2021 and 2022. Hell Google 1rst quarter profits of 2023 on the biggest egg producer in the U.S. 700% its not rocket science

The biggest problem is gun owners and reloaders have become there own worst enemy. Do you really think if people like you would just say F.U I'm not paying the prices for just 6 months make do with the 450 rounds you got or shoot a gun that is alot cheaper to shoot like say just a 223 you would pay 83.00? I get practice why do you think I have the small cals I have, a few I can get 500 rounds out of a pound of powder.
