Before I run some Sluggers through my rifled slug bbl I was wondering about lead accumulation. Probably less than 12 in total to be shot at the range. I have a dozen boxes of them on hand from my Deerslayer days.

Foster slugs are really soft. My guess is that they will lead badly in a rifled barrel.

Foster slugs will lead a smooth bore, but it doesn't affect accuracy. I wouldn't use them in a rifled bore.

Had an 835 w rifled bore.
Would not shoot 2 3/4 or 3" sabot stuff.
Had 3.5" chamber, think that was part of the problem.
Bore was rough too.
Polished that some and got it to shoot OK w 3" WW fosters.
Had to clean it often due to leading. Accuracy would go to heck.

Did not try lead fosters in my later rifled 870s.

Did try them in a Remchoke deer bbl and it too would foul pretty quickly.
But there it was easy to just unscrew the tube, clean and put back in.

They generally lead foul rifled barrels very, very quickly. 5-10 shots and you'll be able to start seeing it.

Give it a whirl. It certainly won't damage your barrel. If you are good with scrubbing, then there's no reason you can't do it.

Agreed, a Hoppes tornado and a little elbow grease will knock it right out of there. It's just a matter of how much you enjoy using a cleaning rod 😂

Some rifled barrels shoot fosters fantastic. My old man had an old Hastings rifled barrel back in the day that wouldn't shoot most sabots worth a plug nickel, but it would stack rifled slugs. The thing would just about rip your dang head off taking a shot at a deer, though. It was short and ported behind the front sight ramp.
