When, exactly, is the Illinois straight wall cartridge handgun season? Considering a future hunt. MTG

It's just part of the general firearm season. It's always the Friday-Sunday the week before Thanksgiving, and then Thursday-Sunday the week after.
Yes, our gun season is a whopping 7 days a year 😒 10 if you include the 3 day ML season that comes after firearm.

I didn't know you could use a hand gun in Illinois. Handgun came in quite a while back... finally joined the new millenium and passed a law to make some rifles legal last year. https://huntillinois.org/deer/

Would it be a hassle for a nonresident to take one into Illinois? No idea there, I've only hunted here as a resident since I moved here. I'm not sure what kind of extra hoops there would be for NR.

You can transport a handgun in Illinois if it's in a case and the ammo is stored separately. Be sure to check and follow all rules as Illinois CO's are very active with non residents.
