I have a Browning A-Bolt that uses 6-48 screws for the scope bases. One of the four holes is stripped.

Brownells makes a tap for this issue as well as oversize screws for the new hole. Given it is only one hole, I thought this might be the better way to go than having to take it to a gunsmith to cut 8-40 holes and then thread them. They would also need to enlarge the holes on the scope bases.

My problem is that Brownells won't get the .146x48 Oversize 6-48 Screw with Fillister Head back in stock until sometime in November. Does anyone know of another source for these screws?

I need only 1-2 of them and would be happy to buy them from anyone who might have some.

It's time to take matters into your own hands. Get the tap from Brownells and make one up yourself, or ask your gunsmith to make you the oversize screw . It wouldn't take him any time to whip one up for you . Never wait on someone else if you can get the operation going ahead of time . Having a plan B is why Brownells starts with a B.
