They absolutely toss the place sampling things like books, plastic spoons, a dish tub, pot scrubbers, etc, tipping over every tabled item and attempting entry on all that is sealed. Skunks confine their activities to cleaning the floor/ground, and without a camera, one never knows they were present. Early setup wilderness camps had bear entering through a rip in the side of our wall tent, and exiting through the opposing side even though the door was intentionally left open. Also had a Lab that figured out how to get thru the electronic fence (3 times, different ways), but wanting back in, he would sit out there and howl. The only true cost of having a dog is its death.
