Mine has a blind magazine and an Accu-Trigger. Shoots good, feeds okay. It is a long, heavy, rifle, made even heavier bedded in a Boyds Prairie Hunter laminated stock. I must be wrong on the newer ones. Just looked and looks like they're still blind mags. Is yours a staggered stack or single stack?

I was wrong, mine is a 10FP, not a 12FV. I have an 11FV in 22-250 that has a detachable magazine and A/T. I bought it when Dick's was closing out their firearms back in 2018. One of those too cheap not to buy it things.

The 12 FV is a Cabelas exclusive. They have the blind mag and heavy barrel and accutrigger. The one I had was chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. Didn’t have any issues with the magazine feed lips, but the stock is flimsy and required bedding. After that and stiffening up the forend, it drove tacks. Great rifles that were $400.00 a couple years ago, and as low as $300 on Black Friday deals, with $100 off coupon.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Just curious if anyone has one and changed out the magazine for something else.

I have one in 6.5 CM. Pretty impressive rifle for the price. I soon tired of that thing they called a magazine. Took it out, formed a piece of sheet metal and used JB Weld to make a solid bottom single shot. Just drop a cartridge into the port and close the bolt. These pieces are available commercially, Al Nyhus has tthe info.

Hanco, not the same rifle. Ok, sorry. I sure like those two and the 308 Hog Hunter I have. I never thought I’d own a Savage, but bought the 308 for a suppressor. It amazed me how accurate it was.

Just curious if anyone has one and changed out the magazine for something else. Blind mag correct?? Would probably take a stock swap as well to switch magazine styles.

I have one in 308 and its a tack driver even with the flimsy stock. Some day I will upgrade the stock.

Yeah it's the blind mag that holds 4 but that last one goes in even harder..mb Thanks for explaining the symptoms and verifying it’s a 12fv. Some of these other guys are showing pics of rifles that are not the 12fv model. Sadly I will admit that I did not use the magazine much on my 6.5 creedmoor. I had to think about that a bit. The rifles are heavy and great for shooting off the bench. There I only single feed. There are guys that have changed stocks on these to accept box magazines like what the 12LRP uses. There are also companies that build metal bottom metal that accepts AICS mags. These are options of course. But then you’ll never recoup that money invested. Not a big deal if you intend to keep it forever. I moved on from my 12fv, after buying my Tikka CTRs. The 12FV is a sleeper though, but you have to be willing to put up with some nuances like you are seeing.

Stagger feed or single stack?
New enough to have an Accutrigger and round back or older flat rear receiver and standard trigger?

They shoot and are a decent deal if looking to get into long range shooting. I'd recommend replacing the stock. B&Cs can be had reasonably.
