Connected on this buck yesterday about noon. He was actually bigger than I thought. His hooks really reach around. I was thinking it was a 12" or a little bigger buck, was surprised when he taped 13 3/4" on each side. He should easily make the Pope and Young minimum. Season Closes today, so it was time to get it done.

Congrats, deep hooks really add as well as circumference on antelope. I've seen many taller with little or no hook. I took one on a ranch that had way to many people on it that day no great stalk or sneak on my part just a good running shot on my part. Real old buck with long hooks and ivory tips that crossed each other in the rear with 6 inch prongs. Didn't look big because we tend to initially evaluate by.height. Yours is damned nice these days. Sometimes a guy will see a 3 year old that will make 14 " but not allways. Around western SD 5-6 years old for the 15-16" and that is usually no access on private. Damned few bucks make it past 3 on public access..mb

Very cool! I've been collecting points to come out west and hunt antelope with a bow in a couple states. I'd be completely stoked with a buck like him!

Picture doesn't do him justice. It was 90 plus degrees so I just snapped a couple and got him skinned and in the cooler. I need to get a P&Y score sheet and see where he ends up.

Here's another pic that shows the length of his hooks better. And a quick green score with a cloth measuring tape. Makes me wonder how the 2 big goats I was after would have scored? Guess I'll never know as they outsmarted this old fart. No complaints, I had a good time sitting in the old Hot House watching nature wake up for a few days.

Went in NW SD this last week and got humbled. Took one far shot and had 2 other opportunities. My buddy tagged out on a bedded muley which I got to watch through the binos. He shot the smaller one by accident. It rained 3 inches the day before we arrived and we couldn't pattern them. It was all spot and stalk. Water everywhere. I thought the numbers were down a little. I'll get my revenge in a month with the rifle.
