contender barrel might be a good option ? i have a 22 K-Hornet and that shoots decent ,i also have a 17 Remington barrel that also shoots well . contender just might be a good cheaper option ? CZ`s and Ruger 17`s are hard to find . maybe check with Bullberry barrels for a contender barrel ? i wish you great luck,pete53

Hit the easy button.....

Get a Sako L461 or AI and do a 17 Fireball.

I've barreled 2 of them to 221 Fireball....they work like they were made for that round.

No action mods required.

Only if the bolt face is bushed to a Hornet one and sako extractor installed.
I have a 17 Badger on a 700SA 223 bolt that is bushed, it can only be shot single shot though which is fine by me

I have a 221 FB on a Sako A1 action, and in a fit of stupidity, I sold one barreled/chambered in 20 VarTarg. Both functioned perfectly.

I wish I could say I've never done anything like that but sometimes we just do dumb things.

I had a .17 AH on a Ruger 77 for quite a while but it didn't feed that great. I bought a CZ 527 Hornet to build another on eventually but haven't done so.

This!

I recently bought a H&R Sportster in 17 HMR. Lo and behold the barrel fits perfectly onto one of my CF rifle receivers. I have about 300rds of HMR ammo to shoot through it then I'll rechamber it to 17 Hornet.

What action would that be that the barrel fits?
No cutting back and re-threading?
