Anyone here know what the predominant Stainless Alloy was for the Gerber folding knives of the late 70s or so?

Carried a Gerber Classic for many years, until I laid it on the back bumper of a truck and drove away. Just took delivery on one I found NIB on ebay. Funny feeling in my guts opening it.

The last Gerber I bought was at my favorite pawn shop. It was a Gerber Gator with Yazoo Valley Oil Mill etched on it. I had to grab because my paternal granddaddy ( Daddy Paige); had worked all over the Mississippi Delta putting up the mills and had worked in Greenville, Greenwood ( named YAZOO VALLEY OIL MILL), Hollandale, and Minter City. I think they wanted $15 and got it OTD for $10. Reminds me of him and I’ll pass it on to my youngest son when I’m gone. He’s the one who still hunts. I‘ve got a sack of knives for him when I
find the sack again. I put it in a safe place, extra bedroom upstairs AKA the black; where we store my medical supplies.
