I recently acquired a like new savage 114 pre accutrigger in 270win. It came with a rail, which I'm not a fan, and 3-9×40 vortex scope. The receiver is flat back as in the scope mount in the rear has a flat base while the front base has a round shape. I believe I'll need extended bases to allow for sufficient eye relief.
My question is, can you tell me which scope base manufacturer offers the bases I need. I'm getting up in years and just can't make sense of the information I've found online. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

If nobody here can help you, I'd bet somebody in the Hunting Rifles forum would have an answer. We tend to older Savage rifles here.

Burris made (and maybe still makes) the bases I’ve used. As I recall their packaging was specific as to brands and models of firearm they fit. Wish I could be more specific from memory.

You'll like that 114. I have one in .223 and it is one accurate piece. Bought it on GB several years ago, it came with Leupold bases that work great with the Leupold 3x10 scope I mounted. Mine does have the accutrigger. Great 1"MOA coyote killer with my handloads.

Thanks Savage94c. I'll probably get the rail off and the scope mounted with the talleys, shoot a whitetail here on the farm this winter, then gift the rig to one of my grandchildren. The 114 does function well and has a beautiful walnut stock with some fiddleback in the wood. Thanks again for your response.

I bought the 114 classics in 300 Sav and 250 Sav back when they were available. Agree, both are beautiful. Still have them new in their boxes.

High hopes of a younger man who ran short of time and interest.

Advertised both before we downsized. Entertained some comments but end up packing them to the new place. Boy I had hoped one of the kids or grandkids saw them as I did and cherished one or both. Not looking good, everyone seems into the newer stuff.

Still hunt a pre-1960 110 30.06 and enjoy a few others. Great rifles!

I had the FFL shop of my 114 send it to my main LGS/FFL holder. He's had alot of firearms go through his shop and he advised me my 114 was one of the nicest looking rifles he had ever seen. A number of the local 'hang arounders' remarked also of the beauty of it. The FFL shop was selling it for a local customer who's deceased father had originally bought it new at the shop and hadn't shoot it very much. Looks NIB, walnut wood shimmers with character and beauty. One accurate shooter.

My 114 is the early version having a mag release button on the right side built in the walnut stock. I believe mine is a 94 or 95 year of manufacture. I hope the talleys I ordered arrive this week. Looking forward to seeing how she shoots. Thanks again men.
