Hi. I have been given several hundred .243 Win brass and the primer pockets have been reamed to .211 my primers all measure .210 can I use the brass or will I get gas blow back past the primer? Thanks for any help.Dan

Theres a reason the brass was given to you, I would [bleep] can that brass. Primer pockets on brass are suppose to be .210 max

I was afraid u would say that the guy gave it to for nothing but still I hate to throw out brass.Thanks

Why was it reamed?

They didn’t know what they were doing

There is a tool that closes loose pockets, or there’s a guy on you tube that shows how to do it with a ball bearing and punch

Have you even tried to seat a primer in them yet? Reason I ask is I had a few pieces where the Fed 210M primers slid in very easy, but the CCI-200's fit a little more snug. You may be able to salvage the brass with a different primer. I know they claim to be the same but apparently the CCI batch I have is slightly larger or vise versa.

I don't know why he reamed them but he is not around to ask so I will chuck them.Thanks

CCI's will generally solve the problem...especially if you have some old enough to be in the buff and red cardboard carton.

I have thousands of CCI magnum primers but no CCI large rifle primers. Oh well

Gunbug, I'll certainly be trashed for this, but using sensible load data, I can't think of anyplace you shouldn't substitute CCI 250's for 200's, unless you are loading right up against max.. I use a lot of Mag primers in reduced and cast loads, have used them interchangeably in 6.5 Swede, 7x57, .308, 30-06 and 8x57, and 45-70. In some cases I have actually LOST a slight amount of velocity with mag primers. In overbore, inefficient cartridges, I'm sure mag primers are useful maybe necessary.

When I first started reloading, Winchester and Remington large rifle primers were the only options. The Remington primers seemed to be harder to seat in my 243 cases. Try a few brands if you have them.
