Played with a T3X light in 300WSM that was for sale locally just a couple of days ago. Used and the price is right IMO but I feel like at that weight it would be too much of a good thing for me. Plus, I have one in 30-06 and don't see what the WSM would give me other than a flinch.
Bore size is no substitute for shot placement and Power is no substitute for bullet performance. 458WIN

On the new/more recent productions, the bolt shroud is aluminum, correct? (Anything else get bumped up from plastic to metal on the T3 Lite?)

Either one, Lite or superlite are great rifles. Like others have already said, I don't see enough difference between the two for the extra coin. Unless maybe a Sheep hunt is in your future and you are counting ounces. OP, Check Gunbroker on line. they will ship to your FFL. Free shipping. Tikka T3x Lite Rifle 7mm-08 Rem 22.4 JRTXE352 Price $749.00 Qty: 10+ Free NOCC Fee In Stainless steel Tikka T3x Lite 7mm-08 Rem Rifle 22.40 3+1 Stainless/Black Price $879.00 Qty: 10+ Free NOCC Fee If you don't care for the tupperware stock, there are many other options out there in wood, laminate, and composite. I like the Bell & Carlson. As others also have said, Well, They shoot like a Tikka. IMO they are the most accurate rifle (out of the box) available today. I do not reload. I stopped many years ago. Targets at 100yds with cheap factory ammo. Good enough for anything I need to do.

Can't go wrong with any Tikka, and if your a handloader you'll never have a problem with the 7/08. Easy enough to form brass from .308, and there are more than a few 7mm bullets to chose from.

You’d think a guy that loves pics would have a pile of dead animal pics with Tikkas from all those days in the rain and snow. The funny thing is some guys can shoot them and others not so much. The other day my buddy brought out his heavy azzed Savage in a chassis. His rifle weighs 13-14 pounds and was shooting 1" groups. He was talking about using it as a "long range" hunting rifle that he can put in his eberelstock and hike around with. I told him that I have a Tikka that is much lighter and it probably shoots just as good as his heavy azzed Savage. The main difference is the Tikka is 7 pounds all up. His eyes lit up when I told him I'd sell it to him for $600.00. Later that day he put his Savage on consignment at the LGS. Shooting a rifle well, even in field positions, is more about fit/feel, inherent accuracy of said rifle, and the nut behind the butt. Also, the Tikka stock can be painted and texture added, if you don't like the "slick" feel of the plastic stock. I've never been too bothered with the factory Tikka stocks and I've hunted a lot in the rain and snow. You can also buy a different stock, like the roughtech I put on my 7mm08: I paid around $79.00 for this one and really like it. As for lite vs. superlite, they are both great rifles.

The superlite is exclusive to sportsman’s warehouse. I believe you can buy online and have it shipped to local ffl. This is not true, I've bought from various sources. I just bout a 22 250 and a 7 08 from on line stores other than Sportsmens Warehouse. I really don't know why the shortage of Super Lites. I like the balance of the standard Lite better.

Thanks for the input folks. Member 338rem offered me a Tikka T3x Superlite in 7mm08 and I plan on purchasing it from him. I am super excited as this is 2 firsts for me, first 7mm08, and first Tikka!
......the occasional hunter wielding a hopelessly inaccurate rifle, living by the fantastical rule that this cartridge can deliver the goods, regardless of shot placement or rifle accuracy. The correct term for this is minute of ego.

My first Tikka is this SL .223 1-8 twist and was just hitting the easy button. I was going to send off my model 70 to Pacnor to run a tighter twist but it was easier to sell it and buy this. Also own a Lite T3X in a 8 twist 22-250 but it's apples to oranges comparing balance since I'm running a 25oz scope on it.

Cabelas and MiDway also have super lit tikkas. I have a 270, 6.5x55, 7mm08 and a 6.5 PRC on order. And yes they are stupid accurate.
Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!
They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.

Black stock and stainless fluted barrel are special run from Sportsmans Warehouse. Camo Stock and fluted barrel is a special run from Cabelas. Those are the only places to get new Superlights that I know of

Anyone think the Tikka Veil Widelands are worth the extra money over regular Stainless or SuperLites? I thought I read where they have a bigger barrel diameter and maybe weigh slightly more.
