I just acquired a Ruger 77 Stainless RL .270 in a custom carbon fiber stock 20" barrel. Serial # says 1985. It weighs 6lbs 4 oz with low Ruger rings + Leupold VX2. I cant find evidence Ruger made this rifle stainless.

I've got the boat paddle version of that rifle. Of course mine is a MarkII made in 1999. A 1985 would have to be an original M77, tang safety model. I wasn't aware of stainless models being made until the MarkII came out, but I could be wrong.
Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

Are you sure it didn't have a Cerakote job done on it?
Action stainless or blued?
Blade ejector or plunger type?
The side of the action doesn't say "Mark II" does it? If so it wasn't made in 85.
Tang safety or 3 position wing safety?

Claw extractor, button ejector. Action stainless. Says "RUGER 77". Tang safety. I have disassembled the rifle...not cerakoted.

Not a problem, I can't post pics easily either.

No tang safety Ruger 77 were cataloged in stainless steel. It's coat in something or bare metal.

I have never seen a stainless tang safety. My personal bet is that it has some type of coating, which would align with the carbon stock. some body makeing a nice light ruger. I have a ruger that has titanium color cerakote and its darn near impossible to tell from a beadblasted stainless gun. The other possibility is that it was some type of prototype

Please text pictures to ....... seven 8 one- 4 five 4- seven 81 three. Need serial number, and where the 270cal is stamped on the barrel.
I also do not see where any M77 rifles were cataloged with a KM77RL configuration.
Thanks Ed

I've never seen a stainless tang safety Ruger 77. Call Ruger and they can tell you what it is.

I'm guessing he'd know if it was cerakoted... Unless done right. Huh? A proper cerakote job doesn't include the bore/chamber... if he looks inside and it's stainless, it isn't cerakoted... not to mention the texture of the coating isn't really anything like SS.

I have several cerakoted rifles; I cant see any "edges" or light/dark spots on this rifle. Davidsons? Talo, etc.?

I get the bore/chamber thing but the "texture" can depend on color/applicator from what I have seen.
