I went with my father to a gun show this morning, not planning on buying anything. I always wanted a Hi Power, but never had one and I know very little about them. For some reason, this one tickled my fancy. What can you tell me about it?
I can't see the proofmarks on the left side, but you might have one of the FNs that the Nazis used in WWII. They weren't always up to par, as the Belgians weren't too enthusiastic about building for the Nazis. The holster looks "German" to me, too, but that's just a guess.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

Almost anything is possible with guns made in occupied Europe, but I get the impression that this is a post-war commercial model and that the holster is an add-on. Can't say without more pics, though...

A little sleuthing on Simpson's LTD seems to point to a pistol issued to the German Police AFTER the war. There is a Browning listed there, with a nearby serial number AND a holster that appears to be the same pattern as the one here.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. NOT a Nazi pistol, but one issued to the West German Police.
That is interesting! The old fella I bought it from told me it was a police issue. The pistol nor the holster looks to have been used very much. If it was refinished, I can’t find any sign of it.
There is a name written inside the flap holster. It has a serial number that does not match the pistol.
I am near certain the magazine is not original to the gun, but is of recent manufacture.
