Does uberti make quality rifles? I would like opinions on the rifle and the cartridge? It’s chambered in 44-40. I have no experience with this caliber. Oh and would 800 be a good price for a used one that is in very nice condition with nice wood. Appreciate your thoughts.

I bought one of them in 45 Colt a couple years ago. It was $1200-1300 at the time, so $800 sounds pretty fair for a used one in good shape.

Mine is butter smooth and the trigger is nice, but the factory sights on it were complete garbage... way too fat for any kind of precise shooting.

I have one of the short rifles in 45 colt. Paid 12-13 for mine in 2021. My absolute favorite rifle to shoot. Wood had the funky red look to it. I stripped it and refinished it.

Same as mine, short rifle 45 Colt. In hindsight I wish I had gotten the carbine or the shorter barreled brush popper, because it's a bit muzzle heavy for my liking when offhand plinking.

I have several Uberti rifles and they are great. I have an 1866 in 44/40 that excels with black powder loads. That's a very fair price. If you skip on it, would you send me info? They will handle all factory loads and reasonable smokeless loads.

Paid $700 for mine about 10-12 years ago. It is 100% NOT a safe queen. I am tired of screwing with image size BS here so here is a link to the 73' if interested in seeing it.

I've got a trapper length rifle in .45LC, great little gun and is a hoot to shoot.
