In general. (Insert smart ass comment about having sleep apnea while awake here)

But that's not really true, it's the #1 non surgical cause. Percentage wise, you're super likely to have some a-fib after a CABG.
A cabbage? Translation please.
CABG= med-speak for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft

I don’t use one or need one since I don’t have sleep apnea but I have several close friends and fishing/hunting buddies that do and it changed their life! They didn’t realize how chronically tired, exhausted, they were until they started strapping on the machine and getting a decent nights sleep with adequate REM sleep. The technology and masks have come a long way since they first started using it but for those who need it I’d strongly recommend they do so ASAP….your quality of life will be improved overnight, I’ve seen it with several friends.

I sleep about 6 hours, go to sleep at 9, awake at 3 AM. Sometimes go back to sleep about 6 AM for a couple of hours. Sometimes take a afternoon nap.

The ads got my attention.
Figured I'd wait and see, usually a good policy.
Recently learned how it works, they don't disclose that in the ads.
And that's a hint!

A device similar to a pacemaker is inserted into you chest to
detect breathing rhythm. This part is easily found if researched.

The part that's not promoted?
A probe is inserted into the tongue root.
When the sensor determines its time to inhale, the probe
electrically stimulates (shocks) your tongue to make it too
stiff to obstruct breathing. (The jokes are too easy)

An alternative to APAP?
Not for me!

I've been on Cpap for 17 years. I started out with a Full Face mask, went to a Nasal and now I use Pillows. Works for me.

A-fib is a huge cause of embolic strokes.

I'd want a real sleep study, not a pulse ox at home, but that's just me.

And, FWIW, I've seen a lot of fit, skinny people with sleep apnea. Granted, I've seen more fat people with it, but it damn sure isn't as "fat people only" condition.
I went thru this 2 weeks ago. Mine a pulseox ring. I mailed it back to the read.
The deal is the pulse ox is a formality something that insurance makes the center do. They told me straight up that I would be coming in for the full frankenstein wireset and in-center test.
Actually have that appt today to find out the next step. Given my little bit of diastolic HF, I’m sure I’ll be advancing to the next ‘phase’.

Been on CPAP for only five months, but what a difference. Fortunately I had no adjustment period; I slept well from the first night I used it. I do not wake up to piss near as often, now usually only once within a couple of hours before I get up. When you have sleep apnea to the extent I did you often don't wake up because you have to piss, the sleep apnea wakes you and triggers the urge, which most often produced a dribble for me. Wish I had done it years ago.

I have used a CPAP for a little over a year. The mask isn't a major issue for me. Seems like I'm more rested than before.

The first night I used my CPAP machine I slept almost 9 hours. My snoring was so bad I had moved into the guest room. My wife came in to see if I died in my sleep. I went one night without it and didn't really sleep.

You will love it.
Electrodes glued to your scalp. 4 I think
A probe measuring your breath.
Chest arms, legs....

They all plugged into the wall with a big plug.
I rolled around and ripped the plug apart.
Fortunately it had went on long enough to be a valid test.

Take your pillow from home. You might be wanting it.
