I can mention a few 30-40 min west, closer to Buffalo, depending what you are looking for.

I can mention a few 30-40 min west, closer to Buffalo, depending what you are looking for. 40 minutes is nearly to Buffalo, I plan to stay closer to Rochester this trip. What stores are you talking about I will check them out on my next trip to Buffalo..

We don't have anything BIG, but here are a few
Wolcott Guns awesome guys here....and has indoor 50yd range
A&K guns - about 30 min east of city
S&S about 25 min south of city
Armstrong's Armory, new place looks smallish, but haven't been there yet
Johnson's Outdoor store
H&H
Cabela's is always here....meh

Never said they were good, just gun shops around. It's all we got..... I wasn’t directing that at you. I was just having fun. I can’t imagine NY being the Mecca for gun shops but I’m sure that you no doubt must have some good ones depending on what you’re looking for. I wouldn’t doubt for a minute that there’s some great shotgun, sporting rifle and classic revolver shops that would be fun to browse.

Cabela's is always here....meh thanks, I know it's tough to buy in NY, was surprise when I moved back home to PA after working on the west coast for several decades it was easier to buy gun in California that New York state..

It's not tough to buy, same as anywhere else. Most stuff is actually cheaper than shops I frequent in PA.....
