I take a multi vitamin every day and make sure it has the AREDS formulation included. They are for eye health and hold off things like AMD.

Organic vs conventional does not matter.

So...as the years go by...it gets harder and harder to get enough from the food we eat.

Absolutely, and that's reason enough for some supplements.

Only one I take daily is a 500mg vitamin B-12. Seems everyone on my mom's side had issues with being deficient in it. Doc told me that some folks just don't absorb vitamin B well. Years ago my mom got real low and they had to give her a shot to get it back up to normal. Long as I take a B-12 tablet regularly I'm O.K.. If you are low it will show up in a routine blood test. Also have some senior multivitamins that I take almost daily or at least 3 or 4 times a week.

Not a vitamin per say, but Milk thistle pills. Cleans out your liver, which makes it that I sleep all night without waking up. Works for me.

Others, B-12, C, D, etc, off and on.

If you eats a reasonably healthy diet, you are literally pissing your money away with vitamins.

I eat a balanced diet but I’ll take vitamin supplements 2-3 times a week for added support. If I’m sick or starting to feel sick I’ll take more vitamins especially C and Zinc. I take a multivitamin that is designed for bariatric surgery patients and it’s the only multi vitamin that I’ve ever taken that I can actually “feel” when it’s dissolved and “kicked in”. It’s a lot more expensive but I think I’m absorbing it more readily than the Costco or Centrum style of vitamin.

My wife and I have both noticed through the years that if we take vitamins we seem to have much longer intervals in between getting colds. I’ve also noticed that if I take high dose vitamin C and a few others at the first sign of a cold I can knock it out before it gets bad or at the very least I can ease the symptoms.

Multi vitamin, lots of vitamin D. Niacin, a fist full of stuff like cats claw, nettle, and magnesium to keep the Lyme symptoms at bay.

This says I'm getting enough just from my chocolate addiction wink

8. Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate contains higher amounts of cocoa solids — as well as less milk and sugar — than regular chocolate.

Dark chocolate boasts antioxidants, fiber and several nutrients.

For example, a 3.5-ounce (100-gram) bar of dark chocolate — with 70–85% cocoa solids — provides 11 grams of fiber, 98% of the RDI for manganese and 67% of the RDI for iron (20).

The same bar also packs a massive 200% of the RDI for copper.

What’s more, consuming dark chocolate as part of a balanced diet is linked to improvements in several heart disease risk factors (21Trusted Source, 22Trusted Source, 23Trusted Source).

However, take care to not overeat dark chocolate. It’s still a high-calorie food loaded with fat and potentially sugar.

I eat at least half of a 3.5 oz bar a day I figure, so I should be good to go
