How do whitetail and Axis bucks get along during the rut? They don't hang out. They stay in their genus groups. In the Texas Hill Country, it is every man for himself when feeders go off. It is pretty comical at times. I have seen the Whitetail run a couple hundred yards to the feed.

Do you really call that hunting ? It’s Texas Thank God it is Texas, where you don't have to put up with idiots on public land. Hunting 24/7/365 really sucks.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Better bring a full quiver. Rifle season will likely see him out with a suppressed 45 ACP 1911. The blinds, ground and tree, are 25 or so yards away. Hahaha! Bust em!

To each their own I say.
Were it legal here, and if we needed the meat and had a surplus of deer in the area, I'd no doubt pop a couple for me and the neighbors that might not hunt.
It's going to be a whole different story when I head to AZ in a few weeks though.

Ed is your yard available to lease? 😁
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

Depending oh the weather I will likely wear the moccasins a time or 3. North end up the unit is pretty high in elevation and there easily could be snow. Generally, I wear my old Cabela's wool cargo pants as they breath nicely even when it's 70F or so. Whether there's a pair of longhandles under them will be dependent upon the temperature. It's pretty nice that time of year on the southern end of the unit down near Sedona though.

When I was working in South Texas one of our inspectors went on a hunt with one of the vendors. He said they put him in a tower stand and left. A little while later somebody drove by his stand in a truck with a broadcast seeder mounted behind the truck throwing corn. He said the deer were running out to eat like they were going to hit the back bumper. Said he saw about 50 bucks that afternoon. Deer will come to a corn feeder where I live until the acorns fall but not like that.

Do you really call that hunting ? Doesn't seem much different than sitting over a crop field, food plot, water hole, or other food source to me. I’ve never sat over bait myself, but have no objection to how others make meat. It also seems like a good way to give beginners some experience under controlled conditions that make good shot placement easier. Baiting deer is legal here on private land, except in CWD zones. The Apple Pile is an old WV tradition.
What fresh Hell is this?

The Apple Pile is an old WV tradition. Doesn't matter to me either what a person does as long as it is legal. However in my state, automatic feeders are Illegal. That may be legal in Texas, don't care. Just don't call it hunting. It's just shooting.
