Well, what are the moose reports from up there? The recent hard winters had brought gloom to the hunting outlook, especially in the interior. Did you guys find any, or resign yourselves to hot dogs for the winter?

The doom and gloom is way over stated this year IMO, just like normal. Moose were killed left and right in the interior, just like usual and some big ones at that. I saw just as many racks on pickups and on boat trailers as in years past.
I got a bull in SW Alaska but I flew there to avoid the wheeler army, not for the better moose numbers.
It is no different than in the lower 48. This forum was full of posts declaring how many deer, elk and antelope were winter killed this year and how the pops absolutely crashed, but everyone I have talked to is seeing just as many mule deer, elk and antelope as normal. Lots of big bucks have been killed down there this year just like moose up here.
It may not be 1960s kind of good but the sky isn’t falling.

I haven't seen a single moose this year, flying, boating or driving. 🤔

all the guys in my crowd who know how to hunt got moose, those who never get one are complaining as usual and might be the gloom n doomers you hear from
wasn't any different from any other past hunting seasons, lots of rain and lots of flooded impassable areas, but that is all good, keeps them doomers out of our areas, some nice ones taken and a couple fantastic ones
and yes we are eating hot dogs this winter, cheddar cheese n jalapeno moose dogs, yo

We do winter moose hunts… I know guys that hunted delta for 5 days they saw 5 cows with no calf’s. Area biologist told them winter kill was pretty bad. So take that for what it’s worth.
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

I saw one! A bull even - no cows. And know where two others are. Which puts me 3 bulls ahead of where I started season. My next to nothing enthusiasm at the start of season got a bump! That's good, ain't it?

There were decent numbers in my area, but not as many as years past. The sub set most effected by the bad snow years were calves, so might be a blip in the harvest in another couple years. I've talked to a few guys that hunt higher elevations than I do. They've been seeing fewer moose up there the last few years. Seems like they are staying down lower longer. This guy was by himself on 9-17.

Camera distortion got me! Should have stuck with the eyes, I guess. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I have a caribou pic somewhere like that. He was big, but not THAT big!
