A couple years ago I built rifles for my wife and daughter who have hunted with them a small bit. Have more time and more tags for them both this year. final range session was tonight for next months deer and elk hunts in the Idaho backcountry …Both rifles are shooters, dialed in at 200 yard zeros, and shooting little clusters. I dont anticipate either of them really feel comfortable shooting past 300-350 yards in the field on game. But they both were hitting the gong at 300 with ease tonight with top of the gong holds. The blue rifle is my daughters - 1/7” twist 6mm creed, 3-9x40 Zeiss, shooting 105 grain scenars. Glass bedded, trigger at 3 pounds. The purple rifle is my wife’s - T3x 243, 3-9x40 Burris FF2, shooting 100 grain Partitions. Glass bedded, trigger at 2 pounds ( I am working to upgrade her scope to a Zeiss 3-9x40, but will probably happen after season) Now we hurry up and wait for mid October….

Why different bullets for the two rifles?
Nice looking rifles. Glad you are taking care to set them up with quality gear.
Good luck to the whole family.

Well, if “purty” kills…..those are deadly! memtb

great rifles you have ! but i got tired of so many different cartridges in deer camp ,all the youth ,ladies and myself use 257 Robert rifles ,son when his girlfriend is with him also uses a 257 Roberts and has this made things safer and easier for all !

If I could have done it over, they both would have had the same cartridge...But I came across the Howa Barreled action on a deal and gobbled it up....Then the Tikka was on the classified for like $400 and I jumped on that.
I wanted to shoot 105 scenars out of both, but the 243 with its factory twist just didn't like the long scenars and since they aren't dialing or shooting real long range, just went with a simple partition thats easy to load for and accurate. Maybe next year, Ill dabble with some 90 grain scenars for both??? The one good thing is because a scenar and partition is so different, helps in not grabbing the wrong bullets - or at least it should.
Both stocks are from Boyds, Heritage Models - I ordered them with reduced LOP and the ebony forearm and grip unfinished. I did the final finish work and glass bedded them up. Both rifles are engraved on the barrel with my daughers and my wifes name. Not that they ever would, but good way of personalizing the rifle so it wouldn't be as tempting to sell the rifle down the road. I wanted them to have these for life, even if they stopped hunting.

not all of my 257 Robert rifles are very normal standard rifles but over the years i picked thru what was out there and also rebarreled some to 257 Roberts . here is what 257 Roberts rifles i have 1 is a Remington 30 Express rebarreled , 1 is a German Mauser rebarrel , 1 is a Nazi German Mauser rebarrel , 1 is a early 40`s Winchester model 70 , 2 are Ruger #1 1B, 3 are Ruger # 1 Mannlichers , 1 is Ruger 77 lightweight. heck i never counted them thought i had 9 was wrong i got 10 ! but all will go or have gone too family members and Grandkids get Ruger #1`s , take care ,Pete53

Those are nice! I have no talent in that regard. I hate most anything with small pieces.

Nice rigs...
I'll throw this in, I used some 105 Scenars, still have most of the thousand I bought. Shot a couple of pigs with heart/lung shot, they ran a long way, guessing 150-200 yards. I'd guess a shoulder shot would have dropped them but in this case it looked as if they did not expand.. Very small sample

Not a flame or second quessing, but why did you go 6mm for Elk? Shootability?
Killed a few deer with the 243...that works.
