Has anybody shot this rifle? I have one ordered and I’m interested to see how it shoots.

Just a guess, based on a sample of one Ruger American, but I suspect that current ammunition isn’t quite as good as it was when the little round was introduced. That could have changed, or not, but I’ be interested in how your rifle does as well.
What fresh Hell is this?

I can’t wait to shoot it in a few days. I have about 5000 rounds of Ely ammunition that I bought several years ago. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it shoots.

The newest CCI 17HM2 ammo with the chrome cases and yellow tipped bullets shoots better than the other CCI and Hornady ammo that I have on hand. It isn't Eley accurate, but it is easily minute of squirrel.
The only really inaccurate 17HM2 ammo that I've used is the 15.5 grain NTX, as it doesn't shoot as well as the 17 grain ammo in any rifle that I've tried it in.

My Ruger American in 17HM2, from the non-cataloged run that SAS had made, is the least accurate 17HM2 rifle that I've owned. I might have got a dud, but even the least expensive Savage Mark IIs shoot better groups. Very disappointing.

I fully agree with 260Remguy, both my savage and CZ loves the new CCI 17gr ammo! I would not hesitate to purchase a savage again as long as you are looking for a utilitarian rifle.

I bought an A22M (22WMR) and had trigger trouble right out of the gate. I finally got the trigger squared away to where it would cycle flawlessly. See the link below if you want details. Calling it an Accutrigger is a stretch. Bolt action Accutriggers are much better than autoloader Accutriggers. I treated it to a Jard which cost half as much as the rifle. All good now...Tom Link to Tom's Accutrigger Problem

What kind of value would you place on 1000 rounds of older ELEY 17HM2 ammo? I have a couple thou. Also 800 Federal HM2, value?

Thanks for the tip. I ordered 1,500 rounds and I don't even have a Mach 2...yet.

The CCI is on sale for $7.99 if your rifle prefers that.

Curious to see how it shoots. I have a TC R-55 that just had 2 out of battery detonations last time I shot it.

Regards, bgiert03014:
I did a lot of work-arounds getting a 10/22 to work with the HM2, blew up several magazines. Randy at CPC tungsten weighted a Ruger block (NLA) which eliminated most of my concerns but came to the conclusion a fouled chamber prevented full chambering. Adopted the practice of pulling a bore snake from breech to muzzle every 35 rounds and thoroughly cleaned the barrel / action after every 100 or so. Problem solved. With the Hummer, a SA rig needs to be kept clean.
