I got a good conduct medal. Does that count. GCM didn't stand for "Good Conduct Medal" it stood for "didn't Get Caught Medal

Many thanks to all who served!!!
Clyde That top ribbon's even more impressive. That's the story you want to hear over a couple of beers.

No, wrong MOS. Wow...I've seen you mention the Purple Heart before but I had no clue you also were awarded that DFC.

DFC
There are not a ton of ribbons that make me go daaaamn, and that one is on the short list. I have a cousin who was a medevac medic in Viet Nam. He got his DFC flying into hot LZ's in the back of Hueys to do his job. 25 missions and you got the DFC. I'm pretty sure those 25 missions were in his first 25 days. I can only guess how many times that happened in 6 months. In his first 6 months he was assigned to an infantry unit. He didn't get any credit for his Huey time for that job. Well earned DD. kwg

I am..........disturbed.

Thinking back on it that was not the place to send an 18 year old from the hills. To answer Renegades question I picked up a CIB in Afghanistan during an 04-05 deployment.

Our old bde csm back in 08 had 2 stars on his. Gulf war 1 and Panama if I remember right. If thats the case he’s FOS … The only way he could wear 2 stars is IF he was in Korea…. and/or Vietnam,Grenada, Panama, 1st gulf war or Somalia…. AND THEN THE GWOT.
When people face the possibility of freezing or starving there is little chance they are going to listen to unfounded claims of climate doomsday from a bunch of ultra-rich yacht sailing private jet-setting carbon-spewing hypocrite elites

I know a guy who wears a CIB pinned on his Vietnam Veteran hat who was stationed in Germany and Arkansaw. Never went to Vietnam and never saw a shot fired in anger. This dude wears an 82nd Airbourne patch, jump wings, Ranger tab, and scroll. He told me on two different occasions that he was 17 in 1974 and was sent to Germany where he served a couple of years and then came back to the States to finish his enlistment. He was in a mortar unit attached to the 82nd in Germany. Said, "We were the same as them." People tell him "Thank you for your service" all the time and he grunts and nods his head pretending to get teary-eyed. One guy at a local ballgame brought his son over to shake this pretender's hand and told the kid, "Now you can say you have shaken hands with a hero." When this cat wears his vet outfit, which is often, I want to punch him in the throat. He is in my son in laws family and I bite my tongue to keep the family peace but damn it is tough sometimes.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
