I just picked up a High Standard Sport King .22 lr with 4" and 6 1/2" barrels. Anyone have any experience with these handguns. Reliable? Accurate?

Thanks; John

Not that particular one. I've shot several High Standard 22 pistols, my uncle collects them. I do own one this model G-D . Very accurate as all the ones I've shot were and very reliable [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

I've got a High Standard HD Military with 6" barrel. Really really accurate!

Kota: I also very recently picked up a Hi-Standard "Sport King M-103" with 6 1/2" barrel.
I have not shot it and due to its mint condition and the pleasing price I paid for it I have more interest in just letting it appreciate in value.
I own a BUNCH of Hi-Standard and High-Standard pistols, both heavy barrel and "sporter weight" barreled models.
All the ones I have fired worked very reliably and were pleasingly accurate - don't lose the magazine and enjoy.

I carried a Sport King M-103 6 1/2" barrel coonhunting. I was a hard hunter. It doesn't have a lick of bluing left on it. It is still a straight shooter. I went from high velocity shells to standard velocity though per my gunsmith's advice. My eyes aren't what they used to be but it'll still do the job! Great pistola as well as the HD Military.

Good idea to replace the recoil spring. Use STANDARD velocity (not high velocity) ammo. Like other High Standards, these don’t have feed ramps. If you’re getting lots of feeding issues, you may need to adjust your magazine feed lips. Have fun!

Have several. Killed a lot of game with them and fixed sights. They're excellent but not ultra light.

Yes! Use only SV ammo. Mine shoots very tight groups with CCI SV.

Thanks for all the replies.
I hope to get out this weekend to shoot it. It belonged to my Father. He sold it to the son of a family friend 45 years ago. He (the son) just contacted me to see if I would be interested in having it. Sold it to me for the same price he got it from my dad...$1.00. Dad used to carry it coon and bobcat hunting.

1st pistol I had . Was my Dad's. He let me use it ,and use it I did. I carried it inna holster everywhere.
Spent all my money on .22 shells. I could hit any damn thing with it. Old telephone line along the RR tracks had insulators on the crossword. Shot 'em all off. Could shoot baby food jars tossed up in the air. Wait for the apex.

I gave it to my brother when Dad passed. But I have 3 HS HDM Military , hammer guns, put an old Redfield scout scope I glued on the BBl. Several other HS.

Now,I always heard one should shoot standard velocity ammo . I don't know what I shot, but thousands of rounds with no damage , no cracked frames, etc.

I’ve had great results from several high standard pistols, including a sport king. Treat your mags well and they’ll continue to be reliable. All have been accurate enough for any purpose I could have for them. I’ve had the best luck with standard velocity ammo.

Mine looks exactly like that. Also, includes the 6" barrel, 2 mags, and a set of White grips.
