I absolutely love the PCP air rifles. I got into them last year and dove headfirst and then built this ugly thing. It's a 50 caliber that launches 325 grain bullets at near 1600fps, 1587 to be exact. It also gets 6 full powered shots before it needs refilled. I also built a 357 pistol that has as much power as a 38 special.
Austrian Jägerkorps used air rifles against Napoleon’s artillerymen. Napoleon got pissed. No smoke. Issued a general order that all enemy soldats captured with an air rifle in their possession were to be executed as assassins.

I have a feeling I may start heading down the rabbit hole and purchase one. Those look badass. How's the accuracy
I've had the rifle built for about a year and just got to the range with it last week for the first time. It shot about 1.5moa but realized that the scope crapped out on me when I tried to stretch it out more so it could have more potential. The pistol is also very accurate as well but I didn't go for groups with it.

Oh, now my interest is piqued!
That looks like serious F.U. ATF toys to me.
Wonder if F&G would let me hunt elk with one of those?

dont know how you get 6 full power shots out of a tank that small
Very cool. Thanks for posting. I've seen videos of those Girardoni air rifles before but it's worth a rerun. First time I heard of those I was amazed that they had PCP air rifles in the late 1700's. I have a couple Crosman air guns, one of which is a .22 cal. Benjamin Trail. Have actually squirrel hunted sucessfully with it, (it's legal here for small game). It's tempting to get a PCP gun sometime in the future, but I'm too busy with all the other gun related stuff I do.

It's a .45 liter tank. I also designed the valve, which im trying to get patented because of the power and efficiency that it achieves. You also have to consider the plenum volume.

if you can get 6 shots out of that and designed the valve you will make a ton of money
A precision air rifle is an amazing thing. It is hard to believe just how accurate they can be until you have owned one.
The older side cocking match rifles can be had a very reasonable prices and once you have shot one it will make you wonder why it took so long for something that can make smiles at such low cost.
