I was cogitating on some memories and thought, someone needs to be encouraged to be their own man. So, here goes.
About age twenty-five Johnny my older brother and I started a company. Occasionally we would entertain prospective clients with a dinner or drinks. We mat the guy at a swanky, and of course expensive club. The waitress came and took our orders. The prospect said something, “I’ll take a Mai tai.” Johnny said something like, “I’ll take a Manhattan.” I ordered a Bud. Johnny said quizzically, “A bud?” “Yea. I want a Budweiser.” “You’re free, aren’t you?” he sort of stated with a question.
Another memory was when I went to Alaska with a friend. The pilots won’t take only one person so he was required to invite someone along. We were floating the Colene River. The host saw a hill a couple miles from the river and pulled the raft over and asked, “Do you mind if we hike over to that hill?” indicating the hill. I said, “No. I’m a good follower.” “Who ever told you, you are a follower? You are a co-operative independent,” he exclaimed.
This is just a fun memory to add to my fun. Pulling rail cars together in San Joaquin Valley. This is a very fun memory. I think an adult would not even think about trying it. I was hoboing at nineteen years old. My ride was a southbound freight train taking me back to San Diego and the love of my life, Sue. For some reason I got down between the boxcars, took hold of something on the end of both cars, and started pulling. Below my feet I could clearly see the hooks holding the two boxcars together. After a few seconds the hooks started to separate! Light shown up between them! I pulled for a few more seconds until the gap increased to maybe a quarter inch. Maybe more. Then I released them. Slowly, ever so slowly, the front car pulled ahead and the gap closed. I did this a couple times for reasons only a teenager knows.

Amazing how little friction there is between steel wheels and steel rail! What's even MORE amazing, is how little effort it takes to move a rail car.
