Been having the custom knife itch again lately and started looking at different makers.
Does anyone own a Winkler? I'm looking at them and they seem to have a cult following in the special forces community. Kinda blown away by the sticker price. I have knives from Gene Ingram, Charlie May, Dave Winston and Gary Langley. The winklers are double in some cases what any of the other makers I'm familiar with are, not nearly as good looking and custom options are way more limited. They really don't look like anything more than stuff I've seen from Esse. Am I missing something?
Anyone have any first hand experience with them? Thoughts?

I have a Winkler belt knife, and bought another one to gift a service member. I've had mine for a couple years now and carry it often. It has a thin profile that disappears on the belt when worn horizontal. They are great knives in my opinion and their belt sheath system is the best I've ever owned from any maker. I would not hesitate to buy any of the Winkler models. The designs all appeal to me in one way or the other

Pete Winkler? Nice man and makes a great knife. He won F&F that's the only time I've ever watched it

Daniel Winkler is the maker I'm referring to.

No experience will Winkler knives, have listened to him on various podcasts.
Nows a great time to be seeking custom knives. I follow a bunch of makers on IG. Makers Id never known about otherwise.

Danny was making beautiful period knives from the old west era years ago. His wife was making the sheaths. Last few years he’s switched to totally making tactical blades of some sort. I don’t even see him at the Blade Show any more. No idea what he’s up to now. I was on his list to make me a knife ten years ago, even provided him with the stag to use for the handle. Nothing ever came from it…..
