Sick, Thanks for your suggestions. I rarely see a deer over 100 yards where I hunt. Rugged reliability isn't a function of distance. Failed glass/mounting systems, don't get "better" up close. Balance/handling is always key, thus The Chop. Tikka bottom "metal" is absolute Dog Schit,as are all their magazines which aren't CTR. Hint. None of which is subjective. Hint....................

That’s a rifle that won’t enhance any field photos, but will likely provide you with many. Enjoy.

That rig will work great, in spite of pissing off the one note virtual shooter and not supporting Chicoms. Hint.

My exact rig but in .270. It will serve you well. I suggest you get a limbsaver for it.

My son-in-law shot his like that with some brand of 180 grainers. Next time he fired it, it had a brake. I fired it even after it had to brake and it still kicked.

I was looking for a Stainless Ruger Hawkeye with a synthetic or laminated stock. I don't like the looks of the Hawkeye hunter and didn't want a walnut stock. I'm glad I chose this rifle. I already had the scope. I bought a blued Hawkeye Ruger RSI 308 earlier this year off the classifieds. Both will see the woods this year. Thank for the kind words. Dave I had a Hawkeye Predator .308 that was a solid shooter with a go-to-Hell trigger. Gave it to one of my sons, who had lusted for it after using it on a cull hunt. Kinda heavy, but a very good rifle. Anyone that says Hawkeyes aren’t smooth should shuck a few through that one. All I did to it was float it and put moly lube on the contact points in the action. I like your new one. Was looking at them on the SW site, but only for fun. I’d swap the guard for metal, but suffer the mags for convenience of carry. More pictures, with dead critters as soon as convenient please.
What fresh Hell is this?

Replace the pad with a Limbsaver if it bothers you. I have that rifle in an 06 and owned one in 308, recoil was never an issue with either.

Congrats on the new boomstick, Dave. That’s a nice piece of kit… kinda begging to have the barrel cut down and fitted with a suppressor. Either way, sweet rifle, enjoy it!
