What percentage of your Whitetail shots have been offhand standing, sitting or off a stand rest? I'm guessing very few have been taken prone or with sticks.

I have shot a few off hand and with sticks, but the majority were from elevated blinds, that have a wall to rest the rifle on. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

I'd guess that less than 1% of mine have been shot unsupported. The rest have been taken with the rifle rested with my elbows on my knees, on a blind railing or off sticks.

The first 7 years a lot offhand. The rest of my years have been out of stands.

The majority have been sitting or offhand, with a handful from prone. Regardless of position, I have used a field rest (tree branch, etc.) whenever one was available.

Probably close to half of mine have been offhand. Good rest shots have been rare for me, maybe 5%. This includes being able to shoot off my backpack. The rest are supported in some fashion but usually against a branch / tree, off a knee or whatever.

100% without a rest…..though a few have been taken from sitting position! memtb

First one I ever shot was from sitting at about 25 feet with a 16 gauge Ithaca Model 37, 28" modified choke, Remington or Winchester slug. Second one I shot was prone at about 200 yards with my 788 .222, Norma 50 grain factory load. Since then, probably 50/50 standing offhand vs shooting rested from a tree stand. Most of the time, when I am hunting where I'm going to take a standing, offhand shot, it's in the woods where it would not be advisable to move around trying to rest against a tree or something and the distance is not such to make it necessary anyway.

In my days as a kid almost all were off hand shots as I got more educated about shooting, I generally tried to use some sort of rest , even it was just the sling As I’ve gotten older I try to always remember my sticks while making it to my stand Seldom does any shots beyond 60-70 yds present itself Kenneth

Almost exclusively still hunt.
Probably half the deer are spotted when either their heads come up, or they have already detecting me, locked eyeballs.
Then it depends on how they react, anywhere from a snap "Texas heart shot," to them settlin' back down, allowing for a closer sneak or better shooting position.
Off an active game trail, sitting/sling.
Occasionally, hardwood hills bordering clearings present prone opportunities, sling or pack, depending on the time available.

None were prone, too many sticks, ferns, brush etc
Have shot a bunch with my primos shooting stick, both sitting and standing.
Shot a couple off hand, closer shots on moving deer.

Most were standing without a rest. Some sitting in a chair and not rested. A few out a permanent blind and I had a windowsill for a rest.

I have no idea the percentage.
Have shot then off hand, prone, sitting, kneeling, shooting sticks, hiking sticks, packs, rocks, trees, fenceposts,, round bales, barn. Hood, bed, window and mirror of trucks.
Even used and old manure spreader as a rest once.
Depends on the situation.

Having never hunted whitetail (a situation to be remedied next month) but having shot truck loads of deer, the vast majority were from some kind of rest. Lots of sitting shots and the rest from whatever rest was readily available. I have only shot off hand if the situation required it and there was no other option which was not often.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

I’ve taken 2 with the sticks. None prone, a few off the stand rest. The rest have been free hand, mostly sitting, a few standing
Camp is where you make it.
