I'm planning to build a .45 ACP on my 1916 Spanish. I like the Rhineland kits on their website. The problem is the barrel acts like it's welded on. It's soaking right now in some penetrating oil. Will try again Tomorrow. Thanks for any help or comments. Have a nice day,

I had a guy come to me to remove the barrel off one of those old 1916’s I couldn’t get it off and I even used a pipe wrench on the barrel as a last resort (barrel was toast and was to be thrown away) I gave him the advice of cutting a relief in the barrel as close to the receiver as possible without cutting the receiver itself. He had someone do that for him on a lathe and he told me that he could unscrew the barrel off by hand. I guess you could try that option.

^^^ This. The 1916 are somewhat soft and may twist if you lean on the barrel too hard with a wrench. Ask me how I know.

If you are not intent on saving the old barrel simply cut a groove between it and the front of the receiver ring. Cut it about 3/16 deep all the way around. That relieves the pressure and many can then be unscrewed by hand.

Anybody ever rebarreled a Spanish 19... Short answer: Not as sober OR "with intent!" Good luck! John

Got it off Today. I chucked it in lathe and cut roughly a 3/16" relief cut. Then just put it in a bench vise and took it off with a barrel wrench.
