I went in to have a melanoma cut out from the top of my left ear. Operation went fine and I went home with a big bandage on my ear. Then, about 9 pm, it started bleeding. Bled through the bandage. Wife removed it and it appeared to stop. Went to bed. Woke very shortly with an ear canal full of blood. Wouldn't stop.
Went to the emergency room. Took them two hours to get the bleeding stopped. Said it was a ruptured blood vessel because the actual operation site wasn't bleeding. Got home after 1 a.m. Gonna call the skin Doc this morning to ask if he wants to look at it.
We thought it clotted and so I went to bed. Wrong. Bled for over three hours. Total waste of O-Neg goodness. Slow night at the ER. No car crashes, no gunshot wounds. One crying baby. Doc said he enjoyed the chat we had while the first numbing meds took hold.
I blame it on the Packers loss, LOL!
Waiting for the skin Doc crew to call me back and say if they want to look at it.
Rocky: Sure hope things work out well for you. I also have melanoma issues on both my ears and nose. Last spring I had a portion of my left ear removed and reshaped. Looks pretty good and unnoticeable unless pointed out to someone to compare with my right one. Amazing surgical skill. Before that, I had a couple of spots removed on my back. Now have small scaley spots cropping up on edges of both ears and nose. Again, you take care of yourself. I always enjoy seeing your posts.

Well, they cleaned up the dried blood and debated putting in more stitches, but after pinching the wound (which hurts like hell) for 20 minutes, even the residual bleeding stopped altogether. They wrapped my head in gauze and sent me home.
Rocky, I wish you the best luck & healing. I have to strip, every 6 months for my Lady Doc to check me over ! Anyone who has had skin cancer has a 50% chance of a repeat. Of course the LEFT EAR problem comes from exposure to the sun thru glass in airplanes & cars !! I can recall (79 now) the effort I went to get a nice tan in my younger years. I remember several of us shivering on wool blankets on the ground beside our barracks in Biloxi during the winter months so we'd look BUFF !!!
