I have had a couple of those exact guns. They have long throats and both shot excellent. Both were bedded into mcmillan classic stocks. The one I still have shoots 150 TTSX at 3100 fps. The other one my friend bought off me cloverleafs factory power point 150βs. They are quite light but balance nice. Action is smooth. Trigger will need to be upgraded to go below 3#

I have owned a half dozen of these in the past (non at the moment) all of mine shot MOA or better and worked flawlessly and i think the Nitride finish is the best there is, the main reason i sold them is these are a little heavy for my taste....Good luck...Hb

I have one in 270. I put a Timney trigger in it and put it in a McMillan edge stock. Its one of my 2 primary deer rifles. I could have lived with the stock but at the time Rick Bin had a deal on some stocks and I took advantage of that.
I would like to have one in 7mm08 but they never made any short actions in the xcr 2 I can recall.
The only issue had was some carbon fouling. I thought it was premature for only just over 150 rounds but some Montana extreme solvent cured the issue. Very accurate and no issues otherwise.
I really enjoy hunting with it and it is easy to keep maintained at deer camp which is a red clay mud mess. I just wipe it off every day during the three weeks Im up there. I hate they stopped making them.

Like I said, I'm not a Remington guy. BUT, your fine comments pushed me over the edge. Only my second Remington in 55 years of firearm buying. Is this sleeve correct for the xcr II? Package deal: Remington Model 700 XCR II Bolt Action Rifle .30-06 Springfield 24" Barrel. Leupold VX2 3-9X40, W suffix, 2011. Two boxes factory ammo. two 30cal bore snakes, and soft rifle case. Just could not help myself.....Package deal, $449.95 + 28.12 tax. $478.07 out the door.

I believe he is referring to the crown(?) - which looks correct.

It may have been reworked but I am not a expert. I cant recall exactly when I bought mine. It was new and Iβm thinking 2010/11 ish. Been used every year for deer season up until last two years as I used a different rifle.

That rifle is one I have no want or need for but, at that price, it would have come home with me.
My only experience with Remington XCRβs is my XCR/CTR (compact tactical rifle) in .223 which they made before going belly up. 20β heavy 3-fluted barrel, B&C aramid stock with full length aluminum bedding block, all stainless with that black nitride (or whatever) finish. I got a Leupold VX-III 1 3/4 - 6 from their custom shop, OD green with black speckled finish to match the rifle and I put a Timney trigger in it. Rifle is very accurate, shoots easily sub-moa with 65 grain SGKβs, no load tuning at all, just the same loads and overall lengths I use in all my ARβs, just to keep things simple.

Awesome rifle very light, very weather resistant, accurate and the synthetic stock soaks up recoil. I have one in 375 Weatherby. It worked great on my Alaskan brown bear hunt. My youngest son has since claimed it.

Chuck

My primary moose rifle is an XCR2 in 375HH, it has had the bolt hand tig welded on, an m16 extractor installed and the barrel shortened to 21". Its one of my favorite rifles. it shoots 260g accubonds and 250G ttsx into 1"groups fairly easily.

Love my XCR's Have 3 originals with the black stock. .338 Remington Ultra Magnum, .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, which have accounted for a few Bull Elk and a Big Horn Sheep. Liked them so much, when they had the XCR2's on close out, bought 3 of them. .338 Winchester Magnum, 375 Holland and Holland Magnum, and .338 Remington Ultra Magnum, for a song and a dance. They're all safe queens. Never been fired.

Its one of my favorite rifles. it shoots 260g accubonds and 250G ttsx into 1"groups fairly easily. I bought mine new in the spring of 2011. The extractor was too large, wouldn't chamber Remington factory 375 H&H ammo, argggh. I took it to Kevin Weaver, he told me the chamber was rough too. So I had him rechamber it to 375 Weatherby, install a Sako extractor, and weld on the bolt handle to keep the internet trolls at bay. I also had him install NECG iron sights, the Remington irons were junk. Great rifle now, too bad Remington QC had slipped so much. Then again with all of the gunsmithing work I only have $1200 into it. It weighs 7 1/2 lbs with scope/rings unloaded!
