Only that I’ve had a chance to buy two of them and didn’t.

Dumbass……..

In my defense, I did walk out of one store with my #1 .45-70 and left the .375. Should’ve bought both and told my wife to develop an affinity for bologna for a couple weeks. I want to think it was around $800 back around ‘09ish.

The other I just didn’t want to spend $1200 on (back around 2018) at the time.

Both were Red Pads. Both had seen use but not abuse.

Not that I have a practical use for one, but let’s not get practical…..

I’ll likely never go on an elk hunt, but unless in very rough country (like an extra 3lbs of rifle would be my main problem🤣) I’d think it a very capable rifle. If I do ever go to Africa, that’d be what I’d tote.

I would defile the collector value a bit as I’d ditch the standard Ruger tire rubber and replace it with an actual recoil pad. Red, black, whatever.

I own four Ruger #1's so I like the rifle. It's one of my favorites and I always hunt deer with a couple of them every year. I'm seriously considering buying a Hawkeye African in 375 Ruger because left-handed rifles aren't as common & when an interesting one becomes available, LH shooters need to grab them while they're available before they disappear. I don't really need a 375 Ruger at the moment but from everything I've read, it appears that Ruger & Hornady did a good job of achieving their objective of creating a 375 H&H alternative that can be fired from a standard-length action. I have a fondness for the larger calibers so anything that makes a loud boom & has a nice kick intrigues. At the moment, I'm considering the 375 Ruger in a bolt action because I have a lot of single shots but very few repeaters. If I do get it, I'll probably just practice on hogs with it for now until I retire soon & find something much larger to aim it at.

Should have been made in a 1H tropical 24" barrel model instead of the lighter 1S 22" barrel model. They kick like rented mules.

Doh!

Just noticed after writing a post that read like War and Peace that the OP was referencing the .375 Ruger and not the H&H…..

Sorry!

The Boddington edition "Lion" is a nice looking gun, with Circassian. But, tough to find them now single, and not the whole set.
