Have a AGM Rattler 35-384 on an American purposed for rats on dairy farms. Like it fine. Amazon had it under $1800 last week. So probably see that again around Black Friday.

Friend has the same resolution in an Adder. He tried the 25-384 but not enough magnification. Also tried a ATN about same resolution and we both thought it inferior. IMO 35-384 is the floor for rats. CCI Quiet seg trajectory works to about 35 yds, and the resolution is certainly adequate there. Deer at 250 would also be very doable.

As for which, Adder has higher base magnification, Rattler makes more sense as dual purpose scope and scanner. My friend uses a thermal monocular to locate rats before killing with the Adder. I have no such need with the Rattler. Point in favor of the Adder is ability to mount closer to bore axis. I have no trouble holding high on rats at 15-20 feet. Whatever works for you.

I have a Bering Hogster 25 on my suppressed ruger ‘scanner’. I use it for all smaller stuff when coyote hunting, and as a scanner….on the rifle or off. It’s low magnification and high FOV, with good resolution for what it is at around the $2k mark. Maybe under. If you can get 12um pixel pitch vs 17, you’ll get more performance in bad conditions than a 17, along with doing the job of a larger lens.

It’s good enough that tonight I could clearly identify a house key hanging in a swing chain at 35-40 yards, that I forgot I left out for a worker a while back…..until I just saw it looking for rats….could even see the cuts in the key and holes in the head.

Magnification is plenty for me for rats to armadillos inside 100.
