I don’t shoot a bow anymore but had a severed ulnar nerve reattached in ‘97. I’d be happy to tell you my long term experience if there is any interest.

Ended up having to buy a lighter poundage bow due to the surgery and trouble with the shoulder on the other side. Bought an Elite Ember, set it at 42lbs and have been shooting it as much as I could.
Killed a doe yesterday with it, will get after the bucks in a 10 days or so.
Guess I'll be asking the same question at some point. Put my long bow up 3 years ago. Had to face the fact I'm a physical train wreck from living too hard too long. I'm a year recovered from a full right hip replacement. My left knee sounds like gravel in a metal bucket and hurts like a mother. Both rotator cuffs are trashed, and carpel in both hands. Pretty rough on a guy that spends 50 hours a week welding overhead the entire time.
I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children may live in peace. ~~ Thomas Paine
I shoot recurve right handed. My tennis elbow, in my left arm, got so bad that I couldn't lift my bow. Went to the Dr and had tests done. I needed Carpal tunnel, Ulnar relocation, and radial nerve decompression. Had them all done at once. I was wrapped up tight just like you are now. I fully recovered and can shoot my bows no problem. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Diagnosed with it in both hands over 10 years ago, a surgeon recommended therapy. Stretching exercises have been key, my issues weren't just in the wrists but in the shoulders also.
I still sleep with metal lined braces, and do stretches anytime I get a hint of issues.
PS. Many guys who have had surgery end up having issues again over time.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
Interesting, I believe I’m headed down this path. The tendinitis in my elbows, weakness/sharp pain in wrists and shoulders, waking up with fingers numb has been going on for about 4 years ago. Dr did blood work for arthritis and was negative, that’s about it. Mine seems to get worse when running a chainsaw or weedeater. I wear the forearm compression straps and sleep with wrist splints which helps. Lately shooting my recurve flares my left elbow (bow arm). I think my archery days are numbered, might be my last year. What kind of specialist is everyone seeing to do the proper tests, etc.
