I'm not a spring turkey hunter. Too many bugs of every kind, flying and crawling and walking, yuck. But I see them regularly in the fall so I pick up a couple tags most years. Who else?

Been in the woods today, season open this past Saturday, had 2 Jakes come by but hadn't seen much since . Weather front moved though hope it gets back to normal tomorrow. Fall hunting has a different aspect, instead of love sick gobblers, the game causes one to have to focus on where they are feeding.

We can take 2 in the fall in Virginia. I the county I hunt most, this is our fall season dates:
October 21 through November 3, November 22 and 23, December 4 through December 30, and January 13 through 27
That last 2 weeks in January is great. Deer season is over, it's pretty cold, nothing else except small game is in season, and you can pretty much have the woods to yourself. It's almost like a way-pre-spring season.

I'm using my Father in laws Model 12 Heavy Duck this year. I'm not really serious about it, I usually sit along the river and hope they wander by or walk along standing corn. That works good but sometimes you get close and hear them but never see them.

Love to bowhunt them in the spring. Just bought my first ever fall license. Actually any turkey taken will be incidental to deer while I’m bowhunting.

I gave up spring turkey, too many fun things to do then. In the fall I hunt them when I am in pheasant country, or when I go to camp for whitetail deer. Either is fun and not as crazy as the spring time.

I’ve seen a lot of them in Central Texas this year. I might kill one, I might not.

If I go in the fall I will wait on a gobbler. Not enough turkeys left around for me to want to shoot a hen.
The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!

We get about a week in this county; started Saturday. The good part is the last two days overlap with the Senior/Youth early antlerless rifle season, and bears are in also. I’ll be sitting over some new food plots planted by the state on Saturday and if my knee permits, Sunday if need be. I enjoy being out when you have multiple target choices, though turkeys and especially bears are very spotty on my WMA. I’m ground-based this year so will be on a stool with my rifle on sticks. I’ll probably also have my S&W 5.7, and would really like to grease a turkey with that.
What fresh Hell is this?

I was on the way to my deer stand last week at my place in Oklahoma and heard clucking in a grove of trees about 100 yards north of me, so I put a sneak on them and had to belly crawl to get within range for a shot. He was 23# with a 9.75” beard.

They are easier to get out of the woods than a deer.

I like to, but our turkey population has been down for a while and id rather hunt them in the spring.

I'll fall hunt a day here or there if I've filled my archery buck tag OR if the deer movement dies off for a few days.
I absolutely LIVE to hunt them in the spring. But I never found a whole lot of excitement or challenge to killing fall birds. So, kinda something I do if I'm bored..........

I prefer to hunt in the fall. Our spring season doesn't start until May and it's too damn hot and buggy by then to be fun.

Springtime is one "style", fall is another. For fall, my prefered method is my old Belgium SxS hammer gun that I load blackpowder shells for. If I get a shot, I get a shot. Spring is full on tactical! Lol!

I'll pull my face net down and tell 'em "See ya in the spring !!" when gobblers come in. About 3 years ago, I went out one morning because the rut had been non-existent. Ended up blind calling a group of 13 birds in about 30 yards uphill from me. Thought it was a couple hens and big poults as they were all the same size. Nope. All 13 longbeards. I up and shot one with my old SxS 16 gauge anyways. Then I was pi$$ed I had done it. 11" & 7" beards and 1 3/8" spurs. I just HATE to waste a gobbler who's not gobbling and strutting.
