I used the single tree or gambrel for years, but like this cable thing. I made the one on top over 30 years ago, the cable thing this morning. I copied a store bought one.

Rope round their neck, thrown over a tree branch near the shack. Not joking, just works.

I have a row of eye bolts in the shop ceiling and a 2ft hunk of 550 cord hanging on each one. A loop is twisted in each paracord and slipped over a hind hoof. Each hind hoof hangs from a separate eye bolt, so the carcass can't twist or turn while skinning and de-boning. I can do 4 at a time. To lift them up I have an ATV winch mounted on a swivel on the ceiling. Snatch a hind leg hock with the cable, push a button, up they go.

I generally do all of the skinning and cutting under the deck up at the house. I've got a pully and a boat cleat mounted under the deck. I pull it up with the tractor and tie it off with another piece of rope to the boat cleat.

If I'm hanging it over night or for days, I hang them in the barn so that I can close the doors to keep the critters off of it. I've got a pully hung from the roof trusses and this handy dandy winch that I got at Tractor Supply mounted to the wall.

I prefer to use the cable style like you posted..

I quarter while hanging..

I dont gut. Usually no saw. Just cut at the joint.

Front shoulders first, inner loins, backstraps, then each hindquarter.

If not careful, you’ll drop one quarter when its not balanced, esp if by yourself. The cable style prevents that..

Built this last year, use a hook on the end of a pole to transfer deer to hook in beam, then move pulley to the next hook to crank up the next one. Works great and I don’t need a ladder or a bunch of rope to tie off each deer. There’s a hand made eyed hook with a rope/cable in the deer’s pelvic bone.[Linked Image]

Use hooks that aren't fixed on the end and you won't drop anymore rear quarters once one is cut loose.

Works slick to spread them to open the pelvis, finger pinching [bleep] if you aren't careful.

I have an I beam in my garage that has a manual crane and I use that with the gambles. I also hang additional games across it depending how many need to be cut up.

Same, either over a tree limb outside, or a beam in the garage. It's not fancy, but it's as cheap as a chunk of rope and gets the job done.

I used to use a comealong way back when, but it was just more hassle than it was worth.
