I recently won a browning ab3 wood stock in a 308. Have opportunity to trade for a rem 700 sps 7mm-08 that has the metal cerakoted and 2 boxes of shells ran through it, roughly 5 years old. Which of the 2 would you go with?

While I'm not a huge 7-08 fan, I'd go with a 700 over a Browning most any time. Not really a lot of difference between a 308 and a 7-08, unless you're going to want to shoot the heaviest bullets for some reason, the a 308 would win out.

Do you reload? If no, have your sourced 7-08 ammunition?
Factory ammo, the 308 wins by a wide margin in price, selection, and availability.

I do have a handful of rifles, either Mod 70 or 700. Just thinking the 700 might have more overall value than the browning

Good point on the factory ammo.
And I haven't had a Browning that didn't shoot well either. Not so with the 5 year old 700's.
Unless you're planning to sell it, I'd keep the Browning.

If it were an A-Bolt II or X-Bolt, I would say keep the Browning. Since it is an AB3, I would go with the Remington. If the Browning doesn't shoot, you don't have a lot of options. If the Remington doesn't shoot, there are a lot of things you can do for not much $ that can fix it. Worst case is that if you can't get it to shoot, you can sell it pretty quickly for someone looking for an action to build on.

Are you trying to maximize the fiscal value of your free rifle and opt out for loot,or actually hoping to use the best tool for the job? Hint...............

Yup .... And wonder why the other shooter wants to unload the 700.
