Sorry if wrong forum for this. Fairly new to the site.

Looking at buying a used Winchester model 70 super grade in 7mm-08 at a local gun shop. Excellent condition. They are asking $1500.

Do yall think that is fair price?

What version of M 70 is this? Do you know when it was manufactured? Probably important questions that would influence the price.

I'd say 1500.00 is too high for a used one, regardless of condition. I've seen factory new ones for less than that in the last year. Is it a Portuguese-assembled sg? I'd offer 1300.00 and be prepared to walk. However, if you absolutely must have a 7/08 you might be forced to pay his asking price. I have a sg in 270win made by fn in south Carolina. I wouldn't sell it for 1500.00.

Very important. It's like most guys think there is only one model 70. No way in hell I'd give a valuation on an OP like this.

I was referring to the different historical versions of the Model 70. Obviously it's not a pre-64 since the 7mm08 didn't exist then, but for example, is it a New Haven Classic, South Carolina made, assembled in Portugal etc.? These historical iterations all have different characteristics and prices.
