Good grief.
Gave a needy family I know some elk meat. That stuff is DELICOUS by the way...
They BOILED the steaks. Not "broiled" I checked. Pot on the stove top. Said they tasted "okay" but were kind of tough. Boiled them to the point of "well done" from what I understand. They did thank me for the meat though.
Good grief.
From what I understand, they NEVER eat steak because of the expense and simply didn't know how to cook steak. Oh good grief. I do wish that I'd given 'em a class on how to cook elk... I gave them instructions on how to cook the steaks & roasts - after they'd boiled and eaten all the steaks.
Ah well, they've got some roasts left. And I "think" they know how to cook 'em. Hope so.

Some folks invited us over once, for steak on the grill.
It wasn't promising when he started putting foil on the grates. Then he kept drizzling water on the foil as they cooked. Boiled, on the grill?
Yeah, they sucked. Choked one down, complimented him and thanked them for supper. Just like Momma taught.
It's amazing what folks don't know, don't know that they don't know, and don't care to learn about things they don't know.
A good friend and co-worker ate chicken almost exclusively. Said they ate steak occasionally, but didn't really like it. (WTF!) Same with pork!
I suggested to our lunch group that they buy instant read meat thermometers. How they have been a gamechanger for us, not over cooking stuff to be sure it is "done".
He followed that advice, and was amazed. Now they eat beef frequently, steak is a big deal at every camping outing for their group.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Fats we didn’t have the luxury of raisin sauce growing up…not that we ever had steak to drizzle that goodness onto anyway..
I was probs 40 until I could afford my own bottle of that sweet nectar
